DMI Internship Opportunities 2026/2027 – Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute

The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) has announced internship opportunities for qualified and motivated Tanzanian graduates for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The programme provides an opportunity for young graduates to gain practical workplace experience, strengthen their professional skills, and learn under the guidance of experienced supervisors.

Applications are open from 5 October 2026 to 16 October 2026.

Available DMI Internship Opportunities

1. ICT Technician – 2 Positions

Qualification: Diploma in Computer Science at NTA Level 6 from a recognized institution.

The role involves supporting computer and audio-visual equipment, assisting in computer laboratories, providing basic ICT support, and assisting students during practical sessions.

2. ICT Officer II – Network – 1 Position

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree at NTA Level 8 in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

The position involves network infrastructure, LAN/WAN configuration, network security, equipment testing and troubleshooting.

3. Technician II – Electrical – 1 Position

Qualification: Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electrical Engineering or Diploma at NTA Level 6 in Electrical Engineering.

The successful candidate will support electrical workshops, laboratory practicals, equipment maintenance and related technical activities.

4. Technician II – Refrigeration – 1 Position

Qualification: FTC or Diploma at NTA Level 6 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC may also qualify.

The role focuses on refrigeration and air-conditioning workshops, laboratory activities, maintenance and technical support.

5. Technician I – Civil – 1 Position

Qualification: FTC or Diploma at NTA Level 6 in Civil Engineering.

Duties include supporting civil engineering workshops, laboratory practicals, maintenance activities and related technical operations.

6. Artisan II – Plumbing – 1 Position

Qualification: Form IV or Form VI certificate together with Certificate, Trade Test II or NVA II in Plumbing.

The position involves plumbing repair and maintenance, handling tools and supporting the safety of plumbing facilities.

7. Artisan II – Carpentry – 1 Position

Qualification: Form IV or Form VI certificate together with Certificate, Trade Test II or NVA II in Carpentry.

The role includes carpentry work, repair and maintenance, tool management and supporting workshop safety.

8. Public Relations Officer II – 1 Position

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Business Communication or an equivalent qualification.

The role includes supporting public relations activities, preparing institutional information, assisting with events, handling customer inquiries and supporting communication programmes.

General Application Conditions

Applicants should:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens.
  • Be aged between 18 and 45 years.
  • Submit a signed application letter clearly indicating the internship position.
  • Attach a recent passport-size photograph.
  • Provide an updated CV with reliable contact details.
  • Attach certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.
  • Attach Form IV and/or Form VI certificates where applicable.
  • Attach a birth certificate.
  • Ensure all required documents are combined into one PDF file.
  • Qualifications obtained outside Tanzania must be verified and evaluated by the relevant authorities where applicable.
