JOB SUMMARY

The Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture among employees and contractors working at TotalEnergies sites.

The position involves coordinating HSE activities for network operations and projects, monitoring contractors, conducting inspections and supporting compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.

The role requires close coordination with internal teams, contractors, engineering consultants, suppliers, government institutions and other stakeholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow up the ICC programme and ensure compliance with ICC requirements.
  • Conduct HSE prequalification of contractors before they are included in the approved contractor list.
  • Organize HSE audits and ensure proper follow-up and closure of audit recommendations.
  • Support the implementation of the zero-fatal-accident programme.
  • Implement onboarding programmes for new contractors.
  • Conduct close follow-up and inspections of high-risk work activities.
  • Organize HSE meetings and training sessions for contractors.
  • Share safety lessons and organize relevant contractor engagement activities.
  • Coordinate the use of IZI Safety and ERIS applications.
  • Ensure contractors are trained on TotalEnergies HSE requirements.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with IZI Safety requirements.
  • Guide network teams and contractors in implementing HSSE requirements.
  • Review risk assessments, permit-to-work systems and prevention plans.
  • Follow up implementation of safety programmes for the Network team.
  • Conduct HSE inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Issue violation notices and recommend appropriate safety rewards.
  • Participate in incident investigation, analysis and reporting.
  • Follow up corrective and preventive actions resulting from incidents.
  • Participate in tender evaluation and complete HSE evaluations of tenders.
  • Conduct periodic HSE inspections of network operations and projects.
  • Support emergency response procedures and conduct emergency drills.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including Fire, OSHA and NEMC requirements.
  • Coordinate HSE inspections and audit activities and monitor implementation of action plans.
  • Conduct end-of-project HSE evaluations of contractors.
  • Coordinate safety tours covering HSE and transport safety activities.
  • Support sustainability initiatives including environmental impact assessment, waste recycling and sustainability programmes.
  • Implement SRM+, SOCRAT and sustainable projects.
  • Compile and monitor environmental data and complete annual HARPE reporting.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the HSEQ Manager.



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Must possess a Degree from a recognized higher learning institution.
  • Must be an engineer or have qualifications in a related field or science.
  • An HSE qualification will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in HSE functions.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.



KEY STAKEHOLDERS

The position requires close coordination with:

Internal: OM, Internal Auditor, Commercial Department, Network Manager, HR Manager, Depot Managers and other relevant teams.

External: Contractors, Engineering Consultants, Network Dealers, Suppliers, Customers and government institutions such as OSHA, FIRE and NEMC.
